Speaking after being declared the winner of the Delta Senatorial district primary for the Senate, Chief Emerhor thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him.
He noted that the Chief Ogodo-led executive, under which the Senatorial primaries in Delta South was conducted, was duly inaugurated by the last National Working Committee (NWC), assuring that the courts will uphold the legitimacy of the exco, the delegates list and his mandate.
“I’m humbled you all voted for me. I’m grateful for the show of support and confidence you’ve reposed in me.
“Unfortunately, another parallel primary is going on somewhere, I was told.
“The Chief Ogodo-led APC exco, which conducted the Senatorial primary here, was duly elected and sworn in by the last APC NWC led by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
“And you the exco, you’re entrusted to protect the mandate given to you. And that’s why we came here to subject ourselves to the only legitimate delegates list of the exco in Delta Central.
“I believe the courts will make sure the exco is upheld and my candidacy upheld, too.
“We’re not challenging anybody, we’re doing what’s lawful and what is right and the mandate you’ve given to me is the correct mandate and I’ll stand by it.
“I’ll defend it to ensure that I go to Abuja and properly represent you. But as you know, this is just the first leg. The work ahead is defeating PDP.
“I’ll require you to stand with me so as to galvanize Urhobo votes for me, PMB and others,” Emerhor enthused.
The Delta APC leader assured the delegates of a good representation at the Senate if elected in 2019, urging them to stand with and for him and President Muhammadu Buhari to defeat the PDP both at the state and national levels.
As of the time of filing this report, the parallel Senatorial primary being conducted by the Prophet Erue-led exco was yet to commence at Udu.
Incumbent, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is also expected to slug it out with Chief Emerhor at the parallel primary.
It was, however, gathered that the Senatorial primary for the Delta South Senatorial District, which was earlier slated for Oleh on Tuesday, has been cancelled.
