It was gathered that supporters of APC allegedly attacked the PDP when the latter were celebrating the victory of the party’s candidate in Ekiti State election, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who won the last Saturday governorship election in Ekiti.
According to a member of the PDP in the area, some members of the PDP have been hospitalised while properties were destroyed during the attack.
Speaking on the ordeal of the members of the party in Idanre, the PDP Director of Media, Ondo Central Senatorial District, Hon Mayokun Akinmoladun alleged one Adelanke Adegunsoye and Jones Akinrinlola of leading hoodlums to attack some PDP party leaders in the area.
He explained that the thugs went on a rampage immediately the result was released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), attacking members of the PDP in Idanre, saying “these thugs moved in multitude to attack idanre people especially the PDP people in Idanre.
“They injured many people, including the party chairman of Irowo ward, Mr Fredrick Akindayomi who is lying critically injured in the hospital.
“They destroyed the party Secretariat of PDP in Alade/Atosin ward idanre, while 800 blocks were equally destroyed at the secretariat.

“They felled down the ornamental trees at the house of a PDP leader Chief Lisagha Olatunji in idanre.
“They destroyed the motorcycle of Mr Fredrick Akindayomi among other things all in the name that they were celebrating the victory of Dr Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti State.
Meanwhile, the PDP in the council has “expressed total condemnation of the barbaric actions of ruling party thugs that is right now terrorising peace-loving members of our party for no just course. We appeal to our teeming members to exercise restraint by keeping calm, avoid counter-attack under these intense provocations.
But the State Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, Alex Kalejaiye denied the attack saying it was a ruse, saying ” it does not make sense that we will attack the opposition after winning an election.”
Confirming the attack, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Femi Joseph, said the attack was a clash between supporters of the two parties.
He said the clash was caused as result of the celebration of one of the party’s victory but said the police in the area were able to calm down the situation.
He said no arrest was made but confirmed that some people were injured during the clash.
