The National President of the Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria (IMWON), Malama Mariya Nasir El-ladan, has distributed clothes, wrappers, and food items to over 100 orphans and widows in Kaduna state as part of efforts to bring smiles to their faces during the forthcoming Eid Al-Fitr celebration.
Malama Mariya’s gesture aims to ensure that they are not sidelined during the festival, stating, “We have a duty to ensure that these vulnerable members of our community can also celebrate Sallah.”
According to her, IMWON has been tirelessly working to provide essential food items and beverages to underprivileged Muslims in various mosques and community centers. “This recent distribution of food and clothing is an extension of our commitment to serving those in need,” she added.
She mentioned that over one hundred orphans and widows are expected to benefit from the group’s welfare package.
The National President also urged the Muslim ummah to support the orphans and widows, emphasizing that they are also human and it is a religious duty to promote their well-being.
In addition to the staple food items provided, she mentioned that each recipient received new clothes, including wrappers and rice, along with essential cooking ingredients to help them prepare delicious meals for their families during the festivities.

She highlighted that IMWON’s activities are not limited to Kaduna state alone, revealing that similar gestures have taken place in other states across the northern region, ensuring that widows and orphans throughout the region can celebrate Sallah with renewed hope and happiness.
One of the beneficiaries, Maman Abdul, a widow from the Mando community in Igabi local government, Kaduna, expressed her gratitude for the support received, emphasizing the challenging circumstances faced by many widows in caring for their children amidst prevailing hardships.
She called upon well-meaning individuals to continue supporting vulnerable members of society, emphasizing the transformative impact of acts of kindness during times of need.
