Edo 2016: PDM adopts Ize-Iyamu

AHEAD of the September 10 Edo State governorship election, the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) has adopted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, as the governorship candidate of the party.

The party said the decision was taken after its leadership and some members in Edo State carefully assessed the governorship aspirants of the two major political parties in the states, namely the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP.

Edo State chairman of the PDM, Nosa Omorodion, who led some other members of his executive to the residence of the PDP candidate on Saturday, said his party would make available their resources for the actualisation of the gubernatorial ambition of Pastor Ize-Iyamu.

He said he would rally other smaller political parties in Edo State to give their support to Pastor Ize-Iyamu as there was no need for them to present governorship candidates that cannot go anywhere, adding that the change brought upon the country by the APC has been disastrous.

Responding, Pastor Ize-Iyamu said the Edo PDM leaders, by their actions, demonstrated an uncommon high level of patriotism, assuring them that he will not disappoint them and the Edo people if elected into office.

He promised to integrate the Edo PDM members into his campaign committee, even as he vowed that his relationship with the PDM members would not stop after the September 10 election.

The national organisation secretary of the PDM, Paul Oronor; Edo State treasurer of the party, Philip Uwaifo; and Dr Saliu Edogiaware were some of the PDM leaders who attended the event.
