OVER 7000 women and youths in Bauchi state have been provided with farming inputs worth millions of naira by the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs Gimbiya Yakubu Dogara in a move to make them self-reliant and reduce unemployment.
The beneficiaries are drawn from Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro and Dass Local Government Areas which make up the Federal Constituency of Bauchi state which the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara is representing.
While making the presentation in Tafawa Balewa town on Monday on the auspices of her pet project ‘Sun of Hope’ Gimbiya Yakubu Dogara said that 3,500 youths and 3.500 women will benefit from the farming inputs in the 3 LGAs.
She also said that the gesture was to help fight rural poverty and hunger adding that the ‘Sun of Hope’ is also working on health and education interventions across the country.
The Wife of the Speaker who spoke through the Project Coordinator of the ‘Sun of Hope’, Sarah Darambi Kefas said that the “distribution is a continuation of what we did last year but we want to make sure that those that benefited last will not benefit this year because we want everybody to benefit as we believe that the harvest of those that benefited last year have been boosted.”

She added that “We also want to make sure every ward get allocation as well as every polling unit in all the 3 Local Governments.”
On the medical intervention of ‘Sun of Hope’, Gimbiya Dogara said she has donated medical equipment and consumables to the VVF centre, Ninigi in Bauchi state as well as VVV centres in Abakaliki in Ebonyi and Zaria in Kaduna state.
“We have conducted free medical outreaches in the 3 LGAs particularly for pregnant women and children. We will also continue free medical serves during our annual Leem Zaar festival in Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa LG in order to reach out to every community,” she said.
