Stakeholders of the Malaria Consortium have been urged to work effectively in the discharge of their duties.
The call was made by Dr Absolem Madawa, the Director of Community and Family Medicine of Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, during the end-of-cycle review meeting in Lafia, the state capital.
Dr Madawa emphasized the need for stakeholders to be proactive in addressing any challenges that may arise during the implementation process to avoid problems.
Hajia Hafsat Musa-Baba, the SMC State Program Manager, explained that the purpose of the meeting was to bring together stakeholders from both the state and local government to discuss the challenges of the previous cycle and propose solutions for the upcoming cycle in order to achieve the desired targets.
“Nobody is being told to defend themselves but should take these LQAS findings as feedback to drive improvement in the coming cycle,” Musa-Baba stated.
During the presentation of the previous cycle, Mr Elisha Zechariah Maleeks, the senior M&E officer, highlighted the need for stakeholders to take corrective actions, especially for indicators that performed poorly, in order to ensure the successful implementation of the second cycle.
Presentations were made by all thirteen Local Government Areas, addressing the challenges faced and providing solutions for the next cycle.
The Nigerian Tribune observed that the Malaria Consortium targeted 929,052 eligible children between the ages of 3 months and 59 months for malaria prevention during the peak of the rainy season in the state, and actually covered 938,999 children, surpassing the target with a coverage rate of 101%.
