THE Police High Command on Monday kept mute over the current travails of Senator Dino Melaye who was barred by the operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS), in the early hours of yesterday from travelling outside the country through the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.
The NIS operatives were said to have impounded the lawmaker ‘s travelling document and immediately informed the Nigeria Police Force about the development and later left him off the hook when there was no immediate response
The news of his arrest by the Police had gone viral in the social media in the early hours of the day before it was later discovered that it was not the Police but the immigration operatives who claimed that the lawmaker was on the wanted list of the Interpol (International Police)
All efforts by a journalist to seek clarification from the Police on the matter in Abuja proved abortive as all the officers approached on kept sealed lip, saying that is beyond their power.
At the Force Headquarters! Its Spokesman, ACP Jimoh Moshood was said to be on an official assignment outside Abuja while his Deputy, SP Aremu Adeniran could also not be able to speak on the matter when approached but promised to reach out to newsmen after he must have been properly briefed.
