HYACENTH Dagala, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), in charge of Intelligence and Criminal Investigation, has lauded the Gombe State Government for donating a school building to the force.
Dagala made this commendation when he paid a courtesy visit to the acting state governor, Charles Iliya in Gombe on Friday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the building is for the establishment of a police secondary school in Nafada, Nafada Local Government Area of the state.
“We appreciate the efforts of the State Government for donating a complete school building to the police, where academic activities will begin in September,” he said.
According to the DIG, the school will be the first of its kind in the North East when it opens.
Dagala, who is also in charge of the North-East geo-political zone, is on a two-day working visit to the state.
The DIG thanked the State Government for creating a conducive working environment for the law enforcement agents in the state.
He also requested for a piece of land in Gombe to build residential quarters for the officers and men, who would retire from the service.
The acting governor lauded the strategies adopted by the Gombe State Police Command in combating crimes in the state.
“The Commissioner of Police in the state, Austin Iwar, introduced empowerment programmes for the youth in the state, which has made a great impact on the fight against crime.
“Most of the restive youth in the state are now engaged in gainful or empowerment programmes.
Iliya promised that the State Government would continue to support all security agencies in the state to enable them perform well.
