Farotimi was arrested on Tuesday by the Ekiti State Police Command and accused of defaming Aare Afe Babalola SAN, a legal luminary and founder of Afe Babalola University, in his book “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System”.
He was arraigned at the Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday and remanded in prison custody until December 10.
The protest, which has gained support from human rights activists like Omoyele Sowore, will take place in multiple locations, including Lagos, Abuja, Ado-Ekiti, and London.
Sowore has called for a global revolt against the Nigerian judiciary, starting from December 10.
The development has sparked widespread outrage, with many Nigerians demanding Farotimi’s immediate release.
