Dapchi girls’ return: Buhari fighting political Boko Haram —Ex Oyo SSG

A former Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG), Chief Sarafadeen Alli, has said the mode and method by which the abducted Dapchi girls were returned is a vindication of his stance that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration is only fighting political Boko Haram.

He also said the circumstances that surrounded the return of the school girls indicated that the government was in the know about the whereabout of the girls before they eventually regained their freedom on Wednesday.

Alli, in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity, BSA Campaign Organisation, Mr Taiwo Ibrahim, said the government was only chasing the shadow, adding that there was deceit in the way and manner the government was prosecuting the war against insurgency.

The 2019 Oyo governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said, “It is curious to note that the abductors of the girls returned them the same way they were taken away with no security network to check the movement.

“It is equally curious to observe that the girls were released almost exactly the same time the Defence Minister, Mansur Dan Ali promised that they would be released, apparently mimicking what the president said a few days earlier.

“All these statements and the drama that surrounded the eventual release of the Dapchi girls suggested a premonition that the government knew the whereabouts of the innocent school girls. It equally added to the thought that some people in government are likely to be feeding fat on the so called war against Boko Haram.”

Alli said a conspiracy theory may not be ruled out to score a cheap political point, recalling that in 2014, a year to the general elections such an episode was witnessed in Chibok, Borno State and the same occurring just another year to the elections.

He asked, “If the security apparatus or the negotiating power of the Buhari administration was so wonderful, why couldn’t they administer same to bring back the rest of the Chibok girls as they promised they would within three months on assumption of office?”

He however symphatised with the school girls, their parents and the communities, saying “they are increasingly becoming a pawn and object for scoring cheap political points to blackmail the opposition”, adding “a Moses will one day come to judgment.”
