Mike Adenuga Foundation (MAF), established by billionaire, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., on Monday, donated the sum of N1.5 billion to Federal Government and Lagos State government to support Nigeria’s fight against the global coronavirus pandemic, otherwise known as COVID-19.
While Dr Adenuga donated N1 billion to the Federal Government, he made a donation of N500 million to the Lagos State government.
In two separate letters announcing the donation which he wrote to both the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, and the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Adenuga said in the letters dated March 27, 2020, that the donation was his modest contributions to the efforts which deserve the financial support of all stakeholders in the private sector.
Mrs. Bella Disu, daughter of the Dr Adenuga, presented a cheque of N500 million to the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at his office at the state secretariat, Alausa, on Monday afternoon, on behalf of the Mike Adenuga Foundation.
Similarly, a representative of the Foundation presented the cheque of N1 billion to the Governor of Central Bank, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, in Abuja on Monday, which is coordinating the fund raising by corporate bodies to support the initiatives aimed at combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
A source to the Foundation said it was committed to the well-being of the entire Nigerian citizens, especially at this time when the country was battling the c
