Court remands UNIOSUN student in prison for stabbing colleague to death

An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court, headed by Chief Magistrate Olushola Aluko, on Tuesday, remanded a 34-years-old suspect, Akanbi David, in prison for the alleged stabbing to death of 24-years-old student of Civil Engineering Department of University of Osun State (UNIOSUN), Osogno.

The accused person, Akanbi David, also a student of UNIOSUN, was facing two-count charge for conspiracy and murder.

The prosecutor, Mr Mereti Wilson told the court that Akanbi committed the offence on 16th of January, 2017 around 5.00pm

According to the charge, “Akanbi David and others now at large, on the 16th day of January, 2017 at about 1700hrs at Oke-Baale area, Osogbo in the Osogbo magisterial district, did conspire to commit felony to wit:  murder and and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 324 of Criminal Code Cap 34. Vol II laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

“Akanbi David and others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully kill one Amodu Kazeem Ige by stabbing him with a knife on his chest which caused his death and thereby committed an offence contray to 316(1) and punishable under Section 319(1)  of the Criminal Code Cap 34. Vol II laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.”
