Court remand 3 suspected cultists in prison for alleged murder

A Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Wednesday remanded three suspected cultists in Ilesa prison for alleged murder.

The three accused persons, who were facing a 3-count charge on murder, conspiracy and unlawful society include Mutiu Razaq (31), Adebayo Saheed (28) and Razaq Jamiu (23).

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Mirreti Wilson informed the court that the accused persons on the 15th of August, 2016 at Oke Onitea area of Osogbo murdered one Akinwale Shina by inflicting machete and axe cuts on his head, which led to their victim’s death.

He explained that the trio conspired among themselves to commit felony, adding that they also belonged to an unlawful society, known as Aye Confraternity.

Mirreti contended that the offences committed by the accused persons were contrary to and punishable under section 324, 316 (1), 319 and 64 (a) (b) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 11 laws of Osun State, 2002.

The Presiding Magistrate Habibat Bashiru in her ruling ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to October 3, 2017 for mention.
