Two people have been sentenced to prison by a magistrate court in Kebbi for obstructing personnel of Federal Road Safety Corps on duty.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Acting Zonal Commander, Corps Commander E.A Asaniyan, and released to journalists in Sokoto on Thursday.
The Acting (Ag) Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states vowed to Prosecute any motorist who assault or obstruct patrol teams in the discharge of their legitimate duties.
This came in the heels of the sentencing of Atta Samaila and Sani Zhaki both of whom were arrested on Friday 18/10/19 for obstructing and inciting other members of the public against the FRSC patrol team.
The pair who were earlier remanded in prison were paraded at the magistrate court on two count charges before Justice Abubakar Abdullahi Koko and subsequently sentenced to six months imprisonment or payment of thirty thousand naira( #30,000) plus five lashes of the cane.
He, therefore, directed all Commanding Officers to continue the collaborative efforts to intensify public enlightenment; while further urging them that there is no going back on the enforcement of number plate and drivers/riders licence.
