The organisers of the popular Energy Summit, Africa Energy Forum (AEF), EnergyNet Limited United Kindom, has conferred award on individuals and organisations that have been a consistently positive force in Africa’s energy space to support the sector’s development. The event was held at the Beachcomber Hotel, Paradise, Mauritius from 19 to 22 June 2018.
The award was presented on Tuesday, June 19, to the stakeholders at the ongoing 20th Africa Energy Forum (AEF) in Mauritius. The lists include companies and professionals, who have significantly impacted both the sector and the forum over the last 20 years.
Recipients of the ‘Special Recognition Award’ include the President and Chief Executive Officer of Consultancy Dell’Amore International Limited, Alhaji Idris Mohammed; a Ghanaian Ministry of Energy official, Wiliam Amuna; Amadou Hott of the African Development Bank (AfDB); Chris Weston of Aggreko; Jason Harlan of Fieldstone Africa; Theophilus Sackey from CenPower Generation; Scott Mackin of Denham Capital; Clive Ferreira of Gaia Infrastructure Partners and Lucy Chege from the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) among others.

Also, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Management Programme in Infrastructure Reform and Regulation (Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town) were also in attendance to share their findings on the success made so far in the energy sector.
Commenting on the summit, the Senior Marketing Executive, EnergyNet, Amy Offord, said: “This 20th anniversary is excellent, over 350 decision-makers and 2,000 delegates are currently partaking in panel discussions, workshops and seminars, many of whom are governments’ representatives, energy ministries, regulatory agencies, investors, power developers, law firms, technology providers and equipment manufacturers. We believe much work needs to be done, that much is clear. But the forum has presented a chance for stakeholders, colleagues and friends to take stock of their achievements before continuing on their journey to electrify the continent,” she concluded.
A surprise award was also given to Rod and Evelyne Cargill, Founders of the Forum, in recognition of their positive impact on the sector by launching the Forum 20 years ago.
