The Iyalode of Ojodu, Lagos State, Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Babajide, has urged widows to work hard and be determined in whatever they do as success never comes by luck, but through hard work and determination.
Babajide gave the charge during an empowerment programme organised recently for residents of Agege and its environs by Pastor John Olushola of the Victorious Garden Ministry, Agage, Lagos.
Babajide, who was a special guest of honour at the event, said being part of the programme was driven by testimonies by some past beneficiaries.
According to her, the empowerment had impacted on the lives of the downtrodden, saying “it has given them a sense of belonging.”
She, however, appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture.
In his remarks, Pastor Olushola said he had been “wearing the garment of giving and caring for widows and the underprivileged right from tender age.”
According to him, 99 per cent of his life is dedicated to wiping away tears and putting smiles on the faces of the needy in the church, community and the society at large.

While counseling the beneficiaries, Olushola urged them to think less, but put God first and above their problems, adding that God would attend to their needs if they abide by the counsel.
He said: “Trust no man, talk to God always about your problems and He will answer your prayers. Challenges are meant for human beings not for animals or birds.”
The beneficiaries including widows, orphans, the needy and the afflicted, went home with bags of rice and beans, cartons of noodles, clothes, among others.
