The President, Pastors Support Network, a network of over 5000 pastors and ministers, and a Board Member of the Grand Renaissance Institute, Florida USA, Dr Effa Emmanuel has announced the empowerment of over 1000 pastors as he celebrates his birthday.
Dr Emmanuel who is also a Senior Pastor of World Royal City Church Asokoro, Abuja disclosed this to journalists on Saturday during the graduation ceremony of the Church Bible school.
He said at the Pastors Support Network, pastors are educated, enlightened, fed and empowered so that they can discharge their spiritual obligations.
“We are gathering over 1000 pastors today, we are feeding them, we are giving over 500 suits, we are doing what we can to help the little we can to be able to make things work, but we can’t do everything, so everybody needs to play their part.
“It is my birthday today, and also it is the graduation day for our Bible school, and we also use this to organize pastors, we have a network called Pastors Support Network, we have over 5000 pastors registered, what we do in our convention is we bring pastors together, we educate, enlighten them, we also feed them, we give them cloth, we support those who need support”, he said.
Speaking on the 63rd Independence anniversary of Nigeria, the clergyman said that Nigeria has come a long way as a united nation despite its diversities.
“63 years is not a joke, we have come out of so many things, we have survived so many things, and with that alone, we ought to celebrate. There was speculation that this time Nigeria would not be a single entity, but today we are still a nation united despite our diversities, we have a course to celebrate.
“So, we are grateful to God that Nigeria is still a nation, we are still together, we are still alive despite all the hitches in the country, and I am grateful to God that we can make it this far”, he said.
While commenting on the way forward for the country, Dr Emmanuel said “in the area of our cultivation, I think we need to recondition ourselves, have a new mindset, we need to think differently, everybody is thinking how they can benefit from Nigeria, we should begin to think how we can benefit Nigeria, what can we give.
“There is hope for Nigeria, I know that we can make it happen, we just need to recondition ourselves and also begin to tell ourselves the truth, we need a vision, we need to know where we are going so that when we go halfway, we can know that we are on track”, the pastor said.
He, however, called for a parameter to hold leaders accountable and discipline those who have erred.
“We need to begin to learn how to hold our leaders accountable, if there is no accountability, there is no parameter to measure who has done well, and if there is no discipline someone who has erred, you cannot hold anybody accountable, so there need to be parameter how to hold people accountable when they have gone wrong”, he said.
“The pastors are not only the light of the nation, they believers are light of the nation, the church is doing a great job, the church is doing its own role in teaching guiding enlightening and education of the people, but the church cannot do everything, there is a part for the church, there is a part for the government and for the ordinary citizens, so we all need to put our hand together and see how we can help Nigeria move forward, Dr Emmanuel added.
