Thirty journalists in Bauchi are currently undergoing a 2-day training on virtual Journalism organised by Centre for Information Technology and Development CITAD.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop on Thursday, Programme Manager of CITAD, Mal Mujahid Ibrahim said that the training was a collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council.
According to him, the training aimed to impact the Journalists with the new trends and modern techniques using visual journalism software to enhance their performances and speed up while reporting.
Mujahid Ibrahim stressed, “We expect to change the perceptions of the journalists on the way and style of reporting from analogue to digital system of reporting.”
Earlier, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu commended CITAD for organising the training considering the present challenges in the industry.
Ably represented by the Council Secretary, Isah Gadau, the Chairman urged Journalists attending the training to focus more and learn during the training to achieve the desired goals and objectives of the workshop.
One of the facilitators, Mubaraq Shehu Illelah explained that the CANVA is the latest software which most of the global media organizations use to desiminate and tell stories nowadays.
He said that media organizations like BBC, CNN, CGTN, Aljazeera, and NTA among others are using it because of its unique advantages and easy operations.
During the technical season, he dwelled more on the basic knowledge of CANVA visual software and how to create content, and templates, uploading, saving, and sharing of stories.
He further explained that the CANVA software has the advantage of using even with your smart mobile phone to work anywhere, anytime at your convenience.
