Chrisland Schools appoints Akin Fadeyi into Advisory Board

Following its award as the most outstanding private secondary school in Nigeria by the National Education Summit and Awards as well as lifetime awards in the education sector to its founder, Dr Winifred Adefolahan Awosika, in the Vanguard Personality Awards, Chrisland Schools has appointed Akin Fadeyi, the founder of Akin Fadeyi Foundation, initiators of Corruption Not in my Country and the Flagit App as a member of its advisory board.

The school made the announcement during a zoom meeting between the schools’ Managing Director, Mrs Ibironke Olayemi and Chairman of the Schools Advisory Board, Barrister Ike Okuokwu, with select journalists on Tuesday.

Chrisland, a conglomerate of schools with six Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools, a pre-degree college and a university, prides itself as the first school in Nigeria to go fully online and set up a quality assurance control unit in a bid to maintain standard.

Speaking on the Covid-19 challenge and the effect on schools, Mrs Adeyemi stated that Chrisland had no issue as it already operates a hybrid system and has a technological and computer-based foundation, adding that the school had a seamless transition during the Coronavirus pandemic because technology had been an integral part of its operations.

According to her, the school operates a stand-alone online school known as Chrisland online school and had been able to maintain standard and uniformity in spite of its expansion because it has a strong foundation, a culture of excellence, experience, dedicated and committed members of staff with long service as well as a strong administrative headquarters to coordinate all the schools.

“We maintain quality by following our vision and mission which is predicated on a strong foundation and this is helped by dedicated and committed staff, many of whom have been with us for long years. We maintain uniformity and do not compromise standard while we are committed to curriculum development to meet with best practices and standard in education.

“Other schools want to be where we are presently and we also are not resting on our oars to ensure students from our school get the best that will position them for excellence in life,” she said.

She called on government to invest more in education and help the private sector as the educational circle is a long term investment with various challenges and does not yield immediate interests, especially in terms of less tedious regulations and friendly policies.

The school emphasised that the challenges it faces is not different from what others face especially in terms of cost of maintenance in Nigeria where there is a huge social gap in infrastructural development and every individual has to -personally provide the basic amenities that should ordinarily be provided by government.

Mrs Adeyemi emphasised that the standard in all its schools are the same irrespective of location, adding that the curriculum, timing and school activities, as well as assessments and examinations, are the same, to ensure none lags behind in the solid foundation laid by the founder.

Also speaking, Mr Akin Fadeyi expressed delight to be a part of the excellence associated with Chrisland Schools, adding that he will also deploy his wealth of experience to ensure the vision and standard of the school is maintained.
