Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Muheeba Dankaka, has dismissed the allegation that her clearance and subsequent confirmation to head the Commission by the Senate was shoddy.
She maintained that her certificates, which bears her names in their variations, does not change her person but represented her status as a single woman at the time of obtaining such certificate and her present status as a married woman.
“To set the record straight, it is not unexpected that when a woman gets married, she takes her husband’s name and the case of Dr Muheeba Dankaka is not different.
“The general public should note that as against the allegation by LYGEL, Dr Muheeba Dankaka obtained her Masters degree in 1989 before she got married which necessitated the change of name.
Muheeba spoke through her, special assistant on general services, Abdulahi Adamu Idris, who said in a text message that no spurious allegation will distract the Commission from the reform Mandate is has from President Muhammadu Buhari.
A group under the aegis of Youth and Leadership Initiative Group (LYGEL) had called on the Chairman of the Commission to resign following access to her documents which proved variation of her names and change of surname from Salau to Dankaka.
According to the group, “No decent system or polity should condone, or through judicial policy and decisions, encourage the dangerous culture of forgoing certificates with impunity.
“We hereby demand the immediate resignation of the Chairman of the FCC from her office as the Chairman of the FCC based on this obvious inconsistences and irreconcilable credentials.
The group further said “The questionable documents she submitted to both the Presidency, the DSS and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria leading to her appointment and subsequent ratification by the Senate as the Chairman of FCC. This is questionable of gargantuan proportion!”
