The Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Yusuf Buratai has expressed displeasure over the refusal by Internally Displaced Persons idps to return to their villages.
General Buratai made the observation during an interview, shortly after flagging off the Nigerian Army Medical outreach at the NYSC camp, Maiduguri on Thursday.
He regretted that IDPs from Damboa and Bama were very much tied down with no intention to ship out to their council areas.
According to the Army chief it’s hard to decipher why the IDPs are still living in camps, after they have librated their communities for them.
The Acting Army Medical Corp commander, Brigadier General Clifford Wanda said the outreach was to cater for the needs of all the IDPs in the camp adding that the exercise is going to be a continuous one.
He revealed that the exercise involves all medical sectors which includes laboratory and outpatient consultancy, and surgeons, dentists, optomologist among other medical experts who came from the crop of officers that are ready to render their service
Most of the idps from Bama, konduga and Damboa expressed dissatisfaction on the security situation in their villages around their council areas because of the myriads of challenges the army was going through which includes lack of enough personnel and tight intelligence which was the reason why most librated communities have suffered second and third attacks with the recent change of guards.
