Journalists who were to cover President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Kano for the groundbreaking ceremony of Kaduna-Kano standard gauge rail line and the commission of Dangi Interchange under Bridge Road on Thursday were confronted by presidential security aides that barred them from accessing the venue of the Kano/Kaduna Rail line flag off.
It will be recalled that President Buhari is scheduled to be in Kano to flag off the Kano/Kaduna rail project, commission Dangi Interchange under Bridge road and visit the Emir’s palace.
Although the president was to use a chopper to perform his visit in Kano, most roads were found to be blocked with heavy security presence.
Kano journalists who were earlier at the first venue where the president will flag off the rail projects were turned back by the presidential security aides who insisted that the media must have identity tags before they enter.
The journalists who came alongside the Government House crew were vehemently rejected by the presidential security aides.
Many other persons who were not wearing tags including some local traditional rulers were allowed to the venue, to the angst of the journalists who said they were identified by their working identity cards.
