Buhari to return to council chambers

COUNCIL Chambers normally used by President Muhammadu Buhari for large meetings is ready for his use again following the rectification of its faulty sound system which had forced him to move Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings to the First Lady Wing of the presidential villa, Abuja.

He also performed the inauguration of the Audit Committee on the Recovery and Management of Stolen Assets Within and Outside Nigeria at the same venue.

With the rectification of the fault, the president is now expected to resume his use of the venue for his coming engagements.

It had been reported that the president had moved all his official engagements to the First Lady’s Wing on Wednesday because of technical reasons.

But Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said on Thursday that it was only FEC meeting that was moved while the president used his office situated in the same place as the chamber for his other Wednesday’s engagements.

He confirmed to Tribune Online that the technical fault was fixed as at Wednesday even as he pointed out that the venue would host the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
