BREAKING: Accreditation, voting begins in Osun LG parliamentary poll

ELIGIBLE voters on Saturday morning filed out at various units in local governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to exercised their civic responsibilities in the first parliamentary local government poll, in Osun State.
Tribune Online findings indicated that accreditation and voting exercise began simultaneously around 8.15 am in most of the polling units and centres visited amidst heavy security presence in Osogbo, the state capital and Ile-Ife.
Our correspondent, who monitored the exercise discovered that restriction order of people was complied with, except eligible voters, who were seen moving from their residences to polling units to cast their votes.
At St Peter Primary School, polling units 1 and 2, located in Gbongan of Ayedaade local government area of Osun State, voters were spotted being accredited by electoral officers and voting.
Similarly, as of the time of filing this report, voting was ongoing in Apomu, in Isokan local government, but there was no voting in Irewole as all the candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) had no opposition candidates contesting in the election.
Meanwhile, a suspected thug was arrested by the Police in Iremo Quarters in Ile-Ife for allegedly threatening voters with dangerous weapons.
When contacted over the development, Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye said such incident was not impossible, assuring that the Police would compile the number of arrests made at the end of the exercise and provide full details later.
