The Season of Discovery has brought many changes from the original MMO. Several classes have received new roles. When there were rumors before the release that Warlock would be able to tank and Mage would be able to heal, many considered it a joke. But now that this has become a reality, it makes SoD even more attractive to new players who want to experience new emotions playing by familiar classes. Note that there is no best or worst class among them, but they all need enough Season of Discovery gold to make a maximum impact. Each class is interesting for its own reasons, and this review will give an idea of each of them.
Rogue
In WoW SoD, rogues get some cool new runes, and with the Just A Flesh Wound rune, they can also tank. Like Warriors, Rogues have a hard time in the beginning levels when they don’t have a lot of strong or useful skills. But by the time players get Poisons and Vanish, Rogues are already doing a lot of damage. Rogue Tanking is fun, but it can be hard to keep track of combo points when you rely on agile stats instead of armor.
If you want to try a different way of Tanking or like fast turns that give skilled players a lot of DPS, choose the Rogue class. But don’t be careless in Battlegrounds.
Shaman
Now Shamans can play a part that they couldn’t before: Tank. Overall, Shamans are in a better position than they were before thanks to a good set of new Tanking Runes and other runes that improve their other specs. But, just like Druids, Shamans are good at many things but they are not great at any of them. In fact, Shaman tanking isn’t the worst thing you can do in SoD, and they can also heal pretty well now. However, their DPS rate isn’t very good. Shamans are pretty simple to play and level up, but it can be hard for them to reach the top of the meters in the end game.
If you like the idea of the Shaman class being able to play any part in a Dungeon, go for it. Just be aware that stronger classes will be able to do more in SoD.
Mage
Some very important things make the Mage class one of the most pickable in World of Warcraft. It’s very useful for groups because it can call up Portals that let people quickly cross countries. Mages can free-of-charge call up Water and Food for their party, and they can CC enemies better than anyone else. And let’s not even talk about how they can farm AoE.
In both SoD and vanilla, mages are great at AoE attack and PvP. With three new runes, the Mage can also play the part of Healer in SoD. This makes them a powerful magical healer and damage dealers. Mage can be hard to level up, but a good Mage player brings a lot to the party.
Choose the Mage class to try out its new Healing role, for the best AoE DPS and CC, and if you don’t mind being the softest class in exchange for having a lot of magical power.
Warlock
Through the Metamorphosis Rune, Warlocks can also try out a new spec in SoD: tanking. Well, it turns out that Warlocks are pretty good tanks, and they can also do a lot of damage. There are a lot of cool new tools for Warlocks to use in SoD, but Affliction Warlocks are left behind. When you add in a Demon pet that needs to be controlled to do the most damage, Warlocks quickly become more difficult than most other classes. It can be a powerhouse and rarely dies if it gets the right cycles and care.
You can choose the Warlock class if you want to be a dark wizard with a Demon if you want to try out the new Tanking spec or if you want to help your group out with some really useful buffs and skills.
Conclusion
