The administration of Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia of Benue State inherited over N14 billion consent judgement.
The State Commissioner for Justice and Public Order and Attorney-General, Fidelis Mnyim disclosed this on Tuesday when he interacted with journalists in his office.
Mnyim said that the immediate past administration of Samuel Ortom had countless consent judgements at its twilight.
According to the commissioner, some of the judgement debts fell into ganishing and all these bordered on several unpaid contracts and 34 months unpaid pensions.
He said, “These group of people became so aggressive and filed cases against the State government.
“When we came in, we had over 14 billion naira consent judgment. This consent judgments cannot be appealed because government agreed to pay them and government is a continuum.”
The attorney general further hinted that /three garnishee orders had been set aside and promised that others would be paid in instalments.
He explained that the ganishee orders would have affected payment of salary, adding that the goverment was working on how to improve the infrastructure decay in the ministry.
