The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has urged drivers to put the interest of other road users at heart while making use of the road.
He disclosed this while delivering the opening remarks at a one-day free drivers training organised by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Sokoto for the drivers at the Sultan Palace.
Sultan Abubakar, who was represented by the Waziri of Sokoto, Professor Sambo Wali urged both private and public drivers in the State to put more emphasis on the maintenance of their vehicles before embarking on any trip.
He further advised the drivers to take the training very serious, saying it will go a long way to help them while commending the management of the FRSC for coming up with unique ideas.
Speaking earlier, the Zonal Commanding Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, ACM Kayode Olagunju ( PhD), urged drivers in the State to take the advantages of the free training to update their driving skills.

The Zonal Commanding Officer who was represented by the Deputy Corps Commandant, Muhammed Yakubu, lamented how ignorance of some drivers leads to an avoidable accident, thereby killings innocent citizens in the process.
He disclosed that no fewer than 29 drivers within the sultanate council are presently undergoing the training in the State.
According to him, ” After we finish with the Sultanate council drivers, we would move to other Very important personalities drivers in the State, both federal and state ministries.
” We would also cover other sisters security agencies in the State, transport union and to the general public”
