Be part of future think tanks, BIC class of 2019 advised
Bodija International College, Ibadan, class of 2019 graduating students have been advised to align themselves with the future leaders that would shape Africa and the modern world of the 21st century.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Media Strategies Ltd, Mr Yomi Layinka gave the advice, during the celebration of the class of 2019 graduating students of the college, held recently.
Speaking as the guest lecturer scheduled to mark the 18th edition of the college graduation ceremony Mr Yomi Layinka noted many challenges of 21st century varies from poverty, illiteracy, insecurity to inequality, that awaited redress, which he said depend on the readiness of the youths of their generation to address them.
While he charged them to soar like Eagles, he admonished them to learn from past African leaders’ the likes of Papa Obafemi Awolowo, Nelson Mandela of South Africa and build on their legacies to reshape their world.
“ Young ladies and gentlemen, tomorrow wants sure-footed champions who will not shy from the great challenges ahead but will start from where they are today; tie their bootstraps, equip themselves with the vision and tools that will enable them to solve the biggest problems of their respective communities in the most cost-effective and sustainable manner. The world awaits you if you would simply rise up to your responsibilities,” he said.
Speaking in the same vein, the Vice Principal of the college, Mr Dairo Franklyn, thanked the parents for entrusting their children to the college for sound education and character building. While he enjoined the outgoing students to stay to the vision and focus on their goals with all sense of obedience and responsibility.
Director of the school, Mrs Funmilayo Williams, assured the parents that the college would not relent in its oars to sustain its vision to produce academically sound and character-based students for university education at national and international levels.
According to her, BIC was established with a vision to educate and empower students for global relevance, putting in place what is required in terms of teaching and research facilities, as well as professional manpower at secondary and Advanced education Level, to sustain the vision
