Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has charged newly appointed and sworn-in commissioners to always follow due process, and ensure that all files go through the required tables before final approval in line with the laid down civil service rules and regulations.
He also charged them to be team players in effective and efficient service delivery warning them not to let any file slip out of their hands to become a public document even before final approval by the Executive Council.
The governor gave the charge on Saturday in Damaturu while addressing the commissioners shortly after they took the oaths of allegiance and office.
He stressed that they must be good team players and work closely with their permanent secretaries, directors and other staff to collectively achieve the goals of improving the lives of the people of Yobe State.
Buni further charged them on diligence, loyalty and sacrifice in order to promote good governance and service delivery in the state.
According to him, “You should be reminded that as members of the State Executive Council, you are privileged to handle classified documents and information that requires absolute confidentiality. You should, therefore, handle all official matters according to the oath of allegiance and oath of secrecy you have already sworn to protect.
“You must embrace the principle of due process and transparency while executing the duties of your office, the era of carrying files and other forms of communication without regard to normal procedure and due process is over.
“All files must go through the approved channels for proper documentation. Similarly, government files and documents must not be released to unauthorized persons,” the governor warned.
He also cautioned them against sabotage, diversion and waste of scarce resources saying, “You are strongly advised to be prudent and transparent in executing projects and programmes placed under your trust.”
The governor enjoined the commissioners to be good team players and work closely with their permanent secretaries, directors and other staff to achieve the goals of improving the lives of the people.
He stressed, “The people of Yobe State have reinvested their faith in us, we must strive to justify their confidence by meeting their dreams and expectations.
“You are hereby charged to personally inspect ongoing projects and to give a full account of the progress of work to justify value for money spent on all the projects.”
While urging the commissioners be to leading figures in loyalty and diligence, Buni said that “As we progress into our second and final term of office, we are very much committed to achieving our set targets and meeting the aspirations of our people with minimum cost. This is a task that must be achieved for posterity to judge us positively.”

The governor then advised the commissioners to be prudent and transparent in executing projects and programmes placed under their trust.
The sworn-in commissioners are Alh. Aji Yerima Bularafa l, Ministry of Wealth Creation; Ali Mustapha Goniri, Ministry of Agriculture; Ya Jalo Badama, Ministry of Women Affairs; Hon.Musa Mustapha, Ministry of Transport and Energy as well as Ahmed Buba Abba Kyari, Ministry of Housing.
Others are Engr. Usman Ahmed, Ministry of Water Resources; Mohammed Abatcha Gaidam, Ministry of Finance; Kaigama Umar Yunusari, Ministry of Commerce; Alh.Ibrahim Adamu Jajere, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Yusuf Umar potiskum,Ministry of Religion Affairs.
The rest are; Barr. Saleh Samanja, Attorney General and Commissioners of Justice; Prof. Mohammed Bello Kawuwa, Ministry of Higher Education; Engr.Umar Wakil Dudaye, Ministry of Works; Hon.Abdullahi Bego, Ministry of Home Affairs Information and Culture; Dr. Mairo Amshi, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management; Hon.
