A 3-day capacity building training of 1,029 Primary Healthcare Care workers on quality of care improvement across the 323 health facilities in Bauchi State has commenced.
The training was necessitated by the overwhelming demand for quality Improvement and quality care in the health system that would strengthen the capacity of the state’s workforce and service delivery which has become a concern for all.
It was in the move to change the narrative positively, that the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (BASPHCDA) in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NAPHCDA) and IMPACT Project embarked upon the capacity building training.
According to the training template, the key objectives is to ensure knowledge building and skills of participants on how to implement quality improvement (QI) project so as to facilitate Quality Improvement in Primary Health facilities using the QI methodology and process – 4 Steps in QI Process.
The participants are being guided and oriented on the new concept of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Quality of Care framework for improving quality of care in the health facility, and then orient and instill in participants, the overview and basic concepts of NEMCHIC.
The participants are to be trained and build a pool of trainers on quality-of-care assessment and implementation of QI at the health facility through capacity building
Participants were drawn from all the 323 main PHCs per ward across the 20 LGAs of the state.
