About a thousand Bangui residents expressed their indignation outside the United States Embassy in the Central African Republic, demanding the immediate withdrawal of United States paramilitary forces from the country.
Central Africans continue to actively oppose American interference in the country’s internal affairs.
After the announcement of Bancroft’s presence in the Central African Republic, residents began to express their discontent and several civil society organizations issued condemnations at press conferences. This time they decided to organize a peaceful march from PK 0 to the US embassy in CAR to demand the unconditional withdrawal of the US private military company Bancroft from Central African soil.
At the end of the rally, Alie Zodane, the National Coordinator of the Committee for the Initiative, Control and Investigation of U.S. Actions in the Central African Republic, handed a memorandum to the representative of the U.S. Embassy, in which he criticized the illegal presence of the US PMC Bancroft in the CAR, given that the official permission of the Central African authorities has not been obtained.
According to the memorandum, the fact that a private military company has stationed its mercenaries in the Central African Republic without governmental authorization could be considered a declaration of war against the people of the Central African Republic.
The memorandum emphasizes that mere notification to the Security Council does not authorise the United States to station mercenaries in the Central African Republic.
On posters and banners held by the demonstrators, the following slogans could be read: “We demand that the United States respect the laws of the CAR”; “Bancroft, leave our country”; “we demand an end to recognition on the territory of the CAR”; “we demand that the United States respect the laws of the CAR”, “stop the illegal entry of Americans into the national territory”; “we demand the departure of Bancroft from the CAR”; “we demand the cancellation of imports of American companies into the CAR”.
Among other things, the demonstrators condemned the illegal supply of US weapons to the Central African Republic because it contributed to destabilisation and fueled new hotbeds of tension in the Central African Republic.
Also, Central Africans warned agents of the United States, who spy with drones and other military equipment, on the Armed Forces of the Central African Republic to scrupulously respect the Constitution of the Central African Republic and other basic laws governing the Armed Forces.
