The Chief Whip of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Rotimi Abiru, has said that the frightening rate of accidents by Okada and tricycles called for serious concern, urging Lagosians to remain calm and appreciate the present administration in the state for being responsive to their welfare and security with the restriction placed on those means of transportation in some parts of Lagos.
Abiru said this at the weekend in a chat with newsmen, stressing that the state government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu did not target anyone with the ban of commercial motorcycles popularly called Okada and tricycles, otherwise known as Keke Marwa.

The lawmaker, while maintaining that securing the lives of citizens was paramount to the government, argued that giving the frightening record of Okada and tricycles accidents, “no responsive government would sit, fold its arms and watch avoidable loss to lives of its citizens.”
Hon Abiru enjoined the citizens not to see the decision of the government as punishment or a means of denying some people of their employment.
He equally enjoined Lagosians especially the people of Shomolu Bariga, his constituency, to have confidence in the state government, assuring that more people-oriented policies and programmes were on the way.
