Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello

CONVOY of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Mohammed Musa Bello, on Saturday, attacked in a violent clash between the supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the popular Dei Dei market in Abuja.

Although, no casualty was recorded, several vehicles, however, in both of the convoy of the minister and PDP were badly damaged by warring supporters, and it took the urgent intervention of security operatives to disperse the angry supporters.

Trouble started when the convoy of the minister led by his Chief of Staff (CoS), Bashir Mai-Borno to Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) ran into a PDP campaign event at Dei Dei market on the way to the Palace of Sarkin Jiwa in Jiwa District.

Supporters of the PDP were chanting Atiku/Obi and displaying the posters of the duo and other candidates of the party, making the supporters of APC got angry and insisted that the PDP supporters must pave the way for the convoy of the minister to pass.

In a split of seconds, crises ensued as vehicles of both parties and other passers-by were seriously damaged before the intervention of the police who shoot sporadically to disperse them.

A resident of the Jiwa, who did not want her name in print confided in Sunday Tribune that the community was PDP stronghold until recently when one Alhaji Musa, one of its chieftains joined APC and was trying to foist the party on the people.
