Apapa port may delay April completion deadline for Lagos-Ibadan rail ― Amaechi

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi

The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed that the April completion deadline for the Lagos-Ibadan rail project is no longer feasible.

Speaking via his official Twitter handle, the Minister explained that due to the quantum of work yet to be done, the April completion deadline might no longer hold.

According to the Honourable Minister of Transportation: “Looking at the state of work in Apapa, completing the project in April doesn’t seem feasible, especially the extension of the rail line to the seaport.

“We’ll, however, continue to work and redouble our efforts to complete the project and meet set targets.”

It would be recalled that the Minister had stated last year that the Lagos-Ibadan rail project will be completed in April 2020 and inaugurated in May.
