The Ogohi Onu Anyigba, Alhaji Shaibu Okolo, who said this at the 25th anniversary of the hospital, said the people had benefitted from the hospital with access to improved health care.
The traditional ruler described the last 25 years of the establishment of the health institution in the area as impactful and rewarding.
The community in recognition of the services of the hospital honoured the Chief Medical Director, Dr Lucky Orungbe, with the title of “Ebene Attah Igala,” as directed by the Attah Igala, Dr Micheal Ameh Oboni.
The chairman of the occasion, Chief Celestine Ugwagada, however, appealed to wealthy Nigerians to contribute their quota towards helping to provide assistance in meeting the health and wellbeing needs of the indigent and vulnerable in the society.
He commended Orungbe for offering free and highly subsidised health care services to people of Anyigba and its environs, commended him for his untiring efforts in the last twenty-five years.

Ugwagada noted with delight the outstanding performance by Maria Goreti hospital since its establishment, applauding the institution for not only providing hospital services to people at a highly subsidised rate but also serving as a referral centre to other hospitals both within and outside the area.
In his remarks, Orungbe said the vision to establish the hospital 25 years ago was borne out of the need to offer quality health services to the people at subsidised rates, and free for the indigent and vulnerable.
While expressing his appreciation to the Anyigba community for their cooperation and support, the CMD said the hospital has decided to establish an NGO, Maria Goretti Foundation, with the aim of catering for the health needs of the indigent and vulnerable in the treatment of primary illness.
