In Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), there is confusion at the state party secretariat as the party faithful are still waiting for the distribution of materials for the ward congress of the party, which started in the morning across the country.
According to sources, the materials were being shared in a hotel in Abakaliki, the state capital as of 1.38 pm.
But the APC caretaker Chairman, Stanley Okoro-emegha, directed all Local Ward Congress members and Local Government Monitoring Committee members to collect their election materials at the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) headquarters between 10 am to 1 pm.
According to him, congresses to all wards positions must start latest 2 pm.
He noted that where there was consensus, they must be massive support of party members to demonstrate the support for a candidate for each position at the ward Congress election in the field, just as he insisted that any ward where there was no consensus, an election must also be conducted for each position for such areas.
He, however, warned against violence as according to him, anyone found wanting shall be severely dealt with and sanctioned accordingly.
Emeagha, further added that the party would not tolerate any parallel congress in any ward in the state, and urged security agencies to ensure they resisted parallel congresses.
He then reiterate that the party had worked so much under Governor David Umahi, to be very neutral to all APC party members in the state.
