Another gale of resignation hits Governor Ben Ayade’s cabinet as another Special Adviser to the governor on Environment, Mr Obeten Ewa Mkang (JP), resigned his appointment.
Obeten, announced his resignation in a three-paragraph letter he endorsed to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
His resignation came after five commissioners and a host of other aides, who in a bid to prove their loyalty to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, resigned their appointments as they refused to follow the Cross River State governor to decamp to the All Progressive Congress, (APC).
Obetan’s resignation letter reads: “I most respectfully, write to notify you of my decision to resign my appointment as your Special Adviser for Environment.
“I most sincerely want to thank you for the opportunity you gave me to serve the good people of Cross River State, as one of your Special Advisers. And may the good Lord grant you success in your future endeavours,” it ended.
Governor Ayade had on Thursday, May 20 2021, dumped the PDP, the party under which he became a two-term governor and a senator for eight years, claiming the need to bring Cross River State closer to the party at the centre for the god of the people to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ever since, many of his political appointees, who opted to remain in the PDP, have been leaving the cabinet in a show of loyalty to the PDP.
