The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Anambra State Governorship election will emerge through the indirect primary.
National Secretary of the party, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Bashiru disclosed on Thursday while briefing newsmen on the deliberations of the National Working Committee meeting of the party.
Checks revealed that by virtue of the APC Constitution, its candidate for elective offices could emerge through direct, indirect primaries and consensus.
The APC National Secretary disclosed further that a meeting has been fixed for Tuesday to sensitize the party stakeholders in the south east state on rationale for the adoption of the indirect primary mode.
He said the decision of the APC national secretariat would be conveyed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“Our meeting also considered the processes in the ongoing Anambra governorship election, which is scheduled to be held by November 8, 2025.
“The national working committee of the party took cognizance of the fact that advertisement had been made and it seems the advertisement was seemingly projecting that the NWC had adopted direct mode of primary but in actual fact no positive resolution of the NWC had been taken before today as to the mode of primary.
