THE All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday ratified result of the governorship primary where Tony Nwoye emerged as its candidate for the November 18 governorship election in Anambra.

A source at the meeting of the APC NWC disclosed that the national officers were convinced that the primary held last August in Awka was free, fair and transparent and resolved to dismiss the petition filed Senator Andy Uba calling for the cancellation of the primary. National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso, confirmed ratification of Nwoye as the ruling party standard bearer.

The chairman Senate Committee on Public Accounts and senator representing Anambra in his petition dated, 27th August, 2017 and titled, “Petition Against the APC Primary Election held on 26th August, 2017 marred with irregularities” claimed that accredited delegates were chased away from venue of the party by thugs brought to take the place of genuine party faithful as delegates.

Nigerian Tribune also gathered that Dr Hassan Lawal appeal panel constituted by the party found no merit in the petition filed by Senator Uba and advised the national leadership of the ruling party to uphold the result of the primary.

Further investigation revealed that Tony Nwoye will now seek for votes of Anambra electorate alongside the incumbent governor and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Willie Obiano, candidate of the United Progressives Party (UPP), Osita Chidoka and Oseloka Obaze, the PDP standard bearer, as leading contenders for the exalted position of Anambra governor.
