At Alausa, cunning man die…

WHEN car thieves decided to invade the backyard of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and cause embarrassment to the security arrangement at the seat of government, it was like a case of the proverbial cunning man dying.

After Eko Akete’s expose on the invasion and its embarrassing implications, government has decided to also play the cunning undertaker, burying the cunning man by turning the endangered car park to a bus dump.

Now, visitors to the Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, will hardly fail to observe that the popular park, located close to the exit gate, where one of new generation banks sits, has been turned to a bus park. The long buses, which used to convey civil servants to and from their offices at Alausa, now park at the place. Only a few cars are now seen around the place and they are seen just at the park meant for the bank to take care of cars and vehicles belonging to its staff and customers.

The immediate casualty is the average visitor who will find the space a bit detached from the hustle and bustle of the secretariat main ground. But the sacking could be more of a relief than pain for the visitors. Or what kind of relief does having your car prone to an invasion a security arrangement could not stop bring? The antidote may be crude but for now, it is working for all. We are waiting to see if the car thieves will move for government vehicles right under the government’s nose. That will be the day!
