Amid the growing demand for digital skills worldwide, a Nigerian initiative is equipping thousands of secondary school students with essential data literacy training — free of charge.
DataKlicks Hub, led by Akinyemi Elizabeth Oluwaseyi, has launched an ambitious program to train 3,000 students in data analytics and technology.
This initiative aims to prepare young learners for a future where data-driven decision-making is key to success in nearly every industry.
The training kicked off in September 2024 in Akure, Ondo State, where students received hands-on experience in data literacy.
Following its success, the program is now expanding to Osun State, with plans to reach Lagos, Ogun, and Ekiti states. Oluwaseyi emphasised the importance of data literacy, stating that it is no longer just for professionals but a necessity for today’s younger generation.
By equipping students with data skills, the initiative gives them the tools to thrive in a technology-driven world.
In an era where technology is reshaping industries, this program encourages students to take control of their future by acquiring critical skills.
Participants learn how to collect, interpret, and analyze data, gain foundational knowledge of data tools, and develop problem-solving and critical thinking abilities by applying data to real-world challenges.
By introducing these concepts early, the initiative fosters a new generation of tech-savvy youth prepared for careers in data science, artificial intelligence, and other technology-driven fields.
To expand the program and reach even more students, DataKlicks Hub is seeking support from corporate organizations, government agencies, and tech enthusiasts. The goal is to make data literacy accessible to students in underserved communities, ensuring that no child is left behind in the digital revolution.
With the global shift toward data-driven industries, initiatives like this are crucial in preparing the next generation for future careers.
The power to innovate and transform the world lies in the hands of young people—learning a tech skill today could open endless opportunities.
