ACCOUNTANT-General of the Federation Mr Ahmed Idris has pledged to raise the quality of both academic programmes and infrastructure facilities at Federal Treasury Academy, Orozo Abuja.
Idris made this promise recently when he led the members of Governing Board of the institution on a familiarization tour to acquaint them with the state of affairs in the school.
A statement issued by Mr Rotimi Ajayi, Assistant Director of Information added that the visit also enabled the team to assess the progress being made to reposition the institution as a center of academic excellence in providing public finance education in Nigeria.
While expressing delight with the level of work achieved in the renovation of the hostels and class room blocks, as well as the dedication and commitment of the management and staff, the AGF gave the assurance that Government will do its best within the limits of the available resources to uplift the status of the institution, to make it more attractive to both public and private organisations.
He however, urged the management to further look inward in view of the current economic challenges facing the nation and come up with more innovative ways of addressing some of the challenges facing the institution such as poor funding, dilapidated structures, and tasked them to do their best to ensure that facilities already provided are properly managed and adequately maintained.
Earlier, the Acting Director of the Academy, Mr Egbokhale Charity Kadiri, expressed the appreciation of the management and Staff of the Academy to the AGF and the Board members for their commitment to the School and pledged the management’s continued cooperation and commitment to the Academy in order to take it to new heights.
Kadiri was particularly grateful to the Accountant-General of the Federation for the phenomenal transformation that the Academy has witnessed since his assumption of office, which according to him has changed the school from a place of obscurity adorned with dilapidated structures to a place of fame with modern facilities and structures.
