Hon. Adewale Haastrup Olatunji, popularly known as Murphy, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the August 2025 bye-election for Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
His emergence followed an election carried out by the party in line with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He emerged as flagbearer out of 10 aspirants, which included two females, after scoring 31 votes out of the 60 votes cast during the election, which was devoid of any controversy.

One aspirant, Dr Mrs Olaitan Victor, stepped down for him.
Speaking after his emergence as the APC candidate for Ibadan North bye-election, Murphy commended the party leadership and members, especially his co-contestants, for allowing the process to flow without hiccups and for placing their trust in him.
He pledged to prioritise youth employment and job creation to improve the livelihoods of his constituents.
