Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) and Bowie State University (BSU) in the United States are set to formalise an agreement through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on an exchange programme.
The collaboration, as it was gathered, will kick off with students from the Departments of Accounting and Finance and Computer Engineering.
To facilitate the implementation of this initiative, a virtual meeting was convened on Wednesday, bringing together teams from both universities along with the project facilitator, Dr. Gabriel Esuola, who is a lecturer at Bowie State University and a visiting lecturer at ACU.
Present at the meeting were the Vice Chancellor of ACU, Professor Timothy Adebayo; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muyiwa Popoola; the Dean of Management Studies, Prof. Paul Akanbi; and Dr. Oluwaseyi Adedipe.
At the end of the meeting, all parties reached a consensus to commence the necessary paperwork for the signing of the MoU without delay.
ACU vice chancellor, who spearheaded the discussions on behalf of the university, highlighted ACU’s extensive infrastructure, including 11 faculties offering 45 programmes and the capacity to accommodate 4000 students on campus.
He assured the American university representatives that ACU’s management is committed to providing maximum support to ensure the success of the exchange programme.
Prof. Adebayo emphasised that students from BSU will find an accommodating environment conducive to their academic pursuits at ACU.
BSU representatives also expressed their readiness to move forward with the agreement, indicating that once a draft of the general MoU is submitted to their International Education and Student Service office, they will promptly initiate academic discussions.
Dr Esuola said he would visit ACU next month for the draft of the MoU and present it to BSU authorities.
They expressed anticipation for the commencement of the programme as early as next month (March), while underscoring their eagerness to foster academic collaboration with ACU.
