A 54-year-old man, identified as Olanrewaju Adebayo, 54, was on Monday morning crushed to death by a sales truck of a soft drinking selling company at Oja’Oba, Ibadan.
Metro news gathered that the incident happened at about 9.30am, with in front of Total filling station at Oja’ba, killing the man on the spot with his head crushed under the tyre of the truck.
An eyewitness informed that the truck crushed the cyclist, with his head under the tyre. The source further disclosed that the driver of the truck was called upon to move back the vehicle before the corpse of the victim could be removed.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oyo State Police Command, Superintendent of Police, Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the incident, disclosing that the driver of the truck have been arrested.”
Ajisebutu disclosed that the “fatal motor/motorcycle accident happened at about 09.30hrs of today (Monday) when the truck driver and the cyclist were coming from Idi-arere to Oja’Oba. As a result of the accident, the cyclist later identified as Olanrewaju Adebayo, male, aged 54 died. His corpse has been deposited at Adeoyo General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
“The truck driver has been arrested by the police. The accident vehicle and motorcycle have been recovered for VIO’s inspection.
The case is currently under investigation at the Mapo police station and will be charged to court after conclusion of police investigation.”
