Deputy governor of Abia State, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has counselled the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria to do more in their genuine efforts to please God.
In a goodwill message at the third biennial laity day celebration and installation of ‘Ambassadors of Laity’ of the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, Umuahia diocese, he also commended the entire laity of the diocese for their continued and unwavering commitment to the deepening of the Catholic faith in the diocese and beyond.
He commended the efforts of the Bishop of Umuahia diocese, Most Reverend Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji (Bishop of Umuahia diocese), as the local ordinary of the diocese.

He stated that the spiritual, physical and socio-economic growth and development of the diocese and laity had grown in leaps and bounds under the guidance of Bishop Ugorji.
In his welcome address, the president, Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, Umuahia diocese, Mr Vincent Chima urged members of the association to always present themselves as the salt and light of the world.
On the criteria for the investiture of patron and ambassador of laity, he said those honoured had distinguished themselves in contributing to the growth of the church and to humanity.
Among the awardees were President General of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), St. Michael’s Parish, Umuahia, Lady Onyedikachi Madu; Mr Samuel Ekpo, and Sir Michael Nwaeze.
