Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, Adamawa State Governor, Umaru Fintiri, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, among other national figures were in Rivers State on Monday for the commissioning of an Academic Building built by Pamo University of Medical Sciences and named after Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.
The building, four lecture halls, 36 offices and four ultra-modern laboratories was named after Wike in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the rapid development of University.
Other dignitaries at the occasion include: Founder of PUMs and Former Rivers State Governor, Dr Peter Odili, Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, First Lady of Niger State, Hajia Amina Bello, and officials of National Universities Commission NUC.
Commissioning the building, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu commended the Rivers State Governor for his commitment to the infrastructural development of the Rivers State and lauded the governor for his investment and support to the Pamo University of Medical Sciences, which, according to him would help in the grooming of quality medical professionals.

He said: “We thank the Rivers State Governor for his support to this very important university founded by Dr Peter Odili. This support is clear and we are happy with it.
The Sokoto State Governor prayed God to grant Governor Wike the wisdom to continue to administer a complex state like Rivers.
In his remarks, former Rivers State Governor and founder of PUMs, Dr Peter Odili described the occasion as historic saying that the occasion marks the opening of PUMs Administrative Block.
He urged all stakeholders to thank Governor Wike for his determined and consistent contributions to the growth of the school.
He said: “Due to the support of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the school has been able to surmount the challenges of development, leading to the Nyesom Wike Academic Building”.
Dr Peter Odili informed that the Nyesom Wike Academic building has four lecture halls, 36 offices for relevant staff and four ultra-modern laboratories for causes for the third year of the institution and clinical courses.
He said with his interaction with other key stakeholders of university education, the contributions of Governor Wike remains unprecedented.
The Founder of PUMs, Dr Peter Odili thereafter led other stakeholders on a tour of the Nyesom Wike Academic Building.
