The abductors of a lecturer of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Professor Yinka Adegbehinde who was kidnapped on Sunday night along Ife/Ibadan expressway are yet to establish contact with his family, Tribune Online investigation has revealed.
Adegbeingbe who is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon was abducted by unknown gunmen near Ikire in Irewole local government area of Osun State.
A family source informed our correspondent as of the time of filing this report that the kidnappers have not contacted the family to demand ransom in lieu of Adegbeingbe release.
This development came as the victim’s wife, who was in the car with him during incident slumped on Monday and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Ile-Ife for medical attention.
But, Adegbeingbe’s wife had been revived was said to have been psychologically traumatised after the incident.
Her younger brother, identified as Kola Olabojede, who spoke to journalists said that the wife of the lecturer was in stable condition, but she is not ready to talk to the media.

Meanwhile, authorities of the Osun State Police command on Monday said they were on the trail of the kidnappers, with a view to rescue the lecturer and apprehend the hoodlums.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Folasade Odoro, who spoke to our correspondent hinted that the police were working round the clock to rescue Adegbeingbe from his abductors.
According to Odoro, Police “are investigating the case already and our officers are working round the clock to see that we secure the lecturer’s release and apprehend his abductors.”
However, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of OAU, Mr. Biodun Olanrewaju commended the security agencies for their rapid response to the incident, saying the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Ige visited the scene of the incident on Sunday night.
He, however, tasked the security agencies to expedite action in ensuring the release of the lecturer.
