800 homes in Cross River to benefit from EU solar project

EIGHT hundred homes inEtomi community, Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State, are to benefit from a mini-grid solar power project funded by the European Union (EU).

The State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Eka Williams, made this known during a site visit to assess the project’s progress in the community.

He disclosed that the project, a 196 kilowatt-hour (kWh) Jinko powerhouse mini-grid solar farm with a capacity of 119 kilowatts (kW), has become fully operational.

The solar farm, he said was ready to power the Etomi community.

The commissioner explained further that all stages of the project have been successfully completed, noting that the initiative will not only enhance energy accessibility in the region, it also align with the state’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development.
