Why this 50th celebration is special to me —Saidi Balogun

Actor, Saidi Balogun has lifted the lid on his 50th birthday celebration, which has been the talk of the town for weeks.

The actor in an interaction with newsmen on Thursday in Lagos, said the event symbolises a milestone in his life, especially when he looks back on some of the activities that have shaped his existence, adding that “I feel great clocking 50, but that’s not the story to me; the most important thing is how I see life now after 50.”

The four-day event which is expected to attract top personalities from within and outside the country has dominated discourse for the past weeks as it will also unveil the new Saidi Balogun to the audience.

Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, his Osun State counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola and Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Lai Maohammed, are expected to grace the event, which begins on July 4 with a visit to accident victims at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.

It will be followed by a public lecture at the Theatre Arts Department of the University of Ibada (UI) to discuss the parallel line between movie and stage performance.

According to him, on day 3, which is July 5, there will be an evening with Saidi Balogun and stars with corporate bodies, will hold at Executive Sport, Ikoyi and will be anchored  by Gbenga Adeyinka and Kate Henshaw.

On July 6, we will also visit the remand home and Nigerian prisons to feel the pulse of the inmates and share gifts with them”, he said.

On July 7, which is the grand finale, K1 D Ultimate will provide music as veteran actress, Joke Silva and comedian, Omo Baba will anchor the event, which according to the actor, will hold at Grand Dior Event centre, Ikeja, Lagos.
